In a shocking incident, a constable in Nabarangur district was found involved in a robbery case. He is among 13 persons arrested in connection with the robbery that was perpetrated in the house of the trader and BJD leader Sunil Sahu at Dangaerbhoja on May 14.  

The constable was identified as Sonu Jani, who was posted in Koraput district. Among the arrested is a person who was buying stolen articles.

Police received a complaint from Sunil Sahu that his house was broken open by some miscreants on May 14. A lady teacher was staying in his house on rent. Armed robbers decamped with gold ornaments and cash from the teacher’s house at gunpoint.

Police have recovered a huge cache of gold and silver ornaments, and weapons from the accused. Two more persons involved in the crime are absconding. Police are trying to nab them.

Speaking to the media about the crime, Nabarangpur SP Rohit Verma said,”A total of 13 persons have been arrested in the robbery case. Among them are a police constable and a receiver. Gold and silver ornaments, three bikes, two guns and house-breaking tools have been seized from them,” he added.
