This Rath Yatra, 315 special trains will connect Puri, informed Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw after holding discussions with Odisha CM on Friday.

“Discussion regarding the facilities to be provided by the Railway Department was held with Odisha Chief Minister and two Deputy Chief Ministers. It was decided that 315 special trains would run to and from Puri, which is more than last year’s number. Almost all areas will be covered. A huge tent will be put up near the station where 15,000 passengers can be accommodated,” said the Railway Minister.

This year, the Rath Yatra is on July 7.

This year’s festival is unique as the Rath Yatra, ‘Nabajouban Darshan’ and ‘Netra Utsav’ are falling on the same day. Such a rare convergence was witnessed last time in 1971 and 1909.

Because of such rare convergence, devotees will be deprived of the ‘Nabajouban Darshan’ of the Holy Trinity.
