International Day of Charity is celebrated every year on September 5 to honour the memory of Mother Teresa. The intention of the United Nations behind this celebration is the eradication of poverty in all forms including extreme poverty which has been one of the greatest challenges for humanity for centuries. Another motive of the International Day of Charity celebration is strengthening global solidarity and offering support to those who are the poorest and highly vulnerable.
Anyone can contribute by doing some fundraising activities to help the poor and destitute.
Organise a cake sale
Cakes and pastries are loved by all. Try to get a few budding bakers under one roof and request them to donate their cakes for tasting on and trial basis. Sell them at your local event in your garden or from home and donate the money thus collected to charity.
Arrange a competition or running event
Running for a noble cause is considered a regular practice for drawing attention to that particular cause. In the process, you can also ask for sponsorship from leading businesses in town. The runners can raise a lot of money as they go through different lanes and thus help in charity.
Sell old stuff
Many times you either stop using a particular dress or item because it does not suit you anymore or because it is of no use to you. Selling such old stuff that is in good condition and can serve the purpose who have a use for it can be another way of raising charity on the International Day of Charity.

There are many fundraising groups conducting activities for charities all year round. Working together with them will not only let you contribute but also give you ideas on how you can help others when in need.
Get Crafty
If you have some artistic skills such as drawing or painting or creating something aesthetic with craft, paper, or flowers, you can develop a good batch of your drawings or posters and sell them to raise funds for charity.
