Merry Christmas actor Vijay Sethupathi turns 46 today. After Jawan, he has now become quite popular among Bollywood fans. Although his last release with Sriram Raghavan is not doing as expected both Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif have been highly appreciated by the critics for their acting.

For someone who aces every role that comes to him exceptionally well, it is difficult to believe that at one point in life, he used to work as an accountant with no ambitions to become an actor.

Took to acting after marriage and two kids

He was already married and had two kids when he decided to take the plunge into the film industry as an actor. During one of his interviews with Mashable India, Sethupathi revealed that after getting married he first tried his hand in the interior decoration business. When it did not work he decided to take up the job of an accountant first in Dubai and then in Chennai.

He has always been introverted and shy and at one time created a fake resume with marketing as the background simply to boost his confidence. When he decided to take an acting course and embark upon a new journey he instead ended up working as an accountant at the acting school.

However, during this time he got a very good exposure to acting as he saw veteran theater personalities like Na Muthuswamy teaching acting to his pupils.

More than an actor he wanted to fulfill his modest requirements

Vijay Sethupathi had a very modest requirement of owning a second-hand apartment and a car so that he would not have to pay the rent. And that is why he wanted to become an actor. According to him, acting is unique and hence cannot be taught but discovered within oneself.

The actor who was born and brought up in Rajapalayam, Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu even revealed that when he was 16 years old he had gone to watch the shooting of Kamal Haasan’s movie Nammavar along with his friends. While a few of his buddies were picked to appear in the flick he was rejected because they found him too short.

The Tamil star ventured into movies when he was in his mid-twenties and had to struggle for six long years as a junior artist to get a good break.

He initially started with low-budget, critically acclaimed movies and now has established himself as a saleable star in the Tamil film industry.
