  • Entrepreneur Meghdut Roy Chowdury who was present at the dinner shared a video clip of the same.

Usha Uthup is India’s queen of pop. With blockbusters like “Rama Ho” and “One two cha cha cha” to her credit, the Bong singer (born Tamil) became a sensation in Bollywood during the 70s and 80s with her Westernised songs. Even though most of the songs she sang were big hits, Ushaji failed to get good offers and songs and hence her body of work in Bollywood has been limited.

That is why when recently the veteran singer recreated Miley Cyrus’ Flower, fans were stunned and simply could not stop raving about her singing. While Usha Uthup has added her gustiness to the original version, Indian music lovers have loved this version from the desi pop star more. The singer delivered this stunning performance at the Communion India dinner held at Kolkata’s famous Trincas restaurant and for the audience, it was a historic moment.

Most of them have even asked why Bollywood does not use her voice more. And that is a question many Indian music lovers have been asking for years together. Not surprisingly after the video clips of Ushaji singing Flowers was shared by entrepreneur Meghdut Roy Chowdhury even Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift fans could not help but appreciate this legendary singer.

Many fans of these overseas performers could not believe that an Indian could deliver such a magical performance and do justice to this iconic song from the Wrecking Ball singer. In his post, Meghdut penned a tribute to Ushaji saying, “She wears flowers in her hair and sings flowers by Miley Cyrus. I never thought I'd get to witness this. And yes, this is a Usha Uthup fan page now! Deal with it."

This post which garnered more than 3 million likes within a short period has once again proved that Usha Uthup despite being a veteran can appeal to both older and younger generations.
