  • The actor said that currently India is in a state of hopelessness.

Manoj Bajpayee is currently the superstar of the OTT world. Before that, he has always been the one to surprise his audience by doing different roles and meaty characters in parallel cinema. Although he did work in some commercial biggies, his choices indicated that the actor was more interested in doing roles that proved his mettle as an actor.

So naturally he is one actor from Bollywood who can very well speak on the shift in the likes and dislikes of the audience and why suddenly Southern stars like Allu Arjun and Yash are gaining fame across pan India. During his recent interview, Manoj Bajpayee decoded the success of Pushpa: The Rise and KGF saying that people nowadays seek solace as well as inspiration from the heroes on the screen as in real life they are facing some unfulfilling and unhappy realities.

The Satya actor said, “You get success in commercial films when suddenly the audience finds the hero that they have been looking for, and each era is different. Like 20 years back Hindustan was aspirational so they found Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan as their heroes.”

Explaining his point about why 12th Fail and other movies appealed to the audience, Manoj said, “Today’s Hindustan is sad because the people somewhere feel that they don’t have what they want so they are searching themselves in Allu Arjun’s Pushpa and Yash’s KGF. They are searching for their heroes who win in the end, and that’s also the reason 12th Fail was such a big hit because people think that they too will succeed one day.”

The Family Man actor added, “Currently, we are in the hopelessness stage. So, society goes through a cycle and in each cycle, they search for their heroes and their own story. So the films that reflect that time and the actor that leads this type of cinema, the audience likes to watch them.”
