News Highlights

  • Indian Idol 12 has been the most controversial music reality show on Indian TV to date.
  • The focus of this season has been more on drama and other entertainment factors to boost up TRP.
  • The 12-hour finale episode is also an addition to enhance the rating for Indian Idol.

Indian Idol 12 grand finale will be held on August 15, and it is expected that many earlier contestants will also feature in the 12-hour episode. It will be the longest episode of any music reality show on television. Undoubtedly, this season has been the most controversial one.

From Amit Kumar revealing that he was asked to praise contestants to the comments from leading Bollywood singers on this revelation, the entire thing sort of created a lot of upheaval in the music industry. Other than that, things like using drama and emotions to enhance the entertainment quotient and using fake affair speculations (Arunita Kanjilal and Pawandeep Rajan) to ensure higher TRP also led to a lot of slamming and trolling on social media.

While singers like Arunita, Pawandeep, or Sayli have been consistently doing well, a few unexpected evictions like Ashish Kulkarni and Sawai Bhatt also caused controversy. And now, this 12-hour episode amid such controversies is one step ahead. Of course, the long finale episode is sure to offer a lot of entertainment as many special guests including Bollywood stars like Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra, and Army Personnel is expected to feature on it.

While the final top 6 contestants and all the past contestants will entertain the audience with singing, the show is sure to include a lot many other things to spice up the entertainment factor. Earlier, when Indian Idol 1 first started on Sony Television, the focus was mostly on singing and the overall performance of the contestants.

But over the years, there has been a lot of change in the format of Indian Idol, and now more than music, it seems the drama, emotional sequences of the families of the contestants, and controversial statements are being given more focus so that the show continues to grab higher TRP.

More is the controversy, higher is the TRP and the 12-hour Indian Idol 12 finale episode is also seen by many as another addition in these efforts to attract more ratings.
