Deadpool and Wolverine is one of the highly-awaited movies and is poised to be one of the biggest flicks of 2024. While fans are eagerly waiting to see Ryan Reynolds reprising his role and thrilled to see Hugh Jackman reprising his iconic role of Wolverine, most of the moviegoers are waiting to see the craziness of Deadpool and Wolverine together. However, did you know Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy were all set to shelve the movie but Hugh Jackman saved the day?

So, let's know what transpired between them and how Jackman saved the movie from getting shelved.

During an interview with Vanity Fair, Director Shawn Levy, along with Jackman and Reynolds, opened up about the process of introducing Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Reynolds said that he desired to star as the Merc with a Mouth in a standalone film at least one more time for a while. Though Deadpool is revered as one of the most loved fictional characters, he felt that making Deadpool movies requires a lot of sacrifice for which 'it's been six years since the last one.'

While, Deadpool's future was hanging, in 2022, Jackman called Reynolds. He knew that he wanted his next major movie to be Deadpool and Wolverine.

Jackman said, "Deadpool and Wolverine, I want to do that movie. That's what I want."

Well, Jackman has narrated this story earlier, but now it is revealed how important was that call for Reynolds, Levy and Deadpool. With Jackman on board, Deadpool and Wolverine had a direction.

On the other hand, recalling the day Reynolds said, “We (He and Kevin) said, ‘Look, this call just came in. I feel like we’d be idiots to look this gift horse in the mouth and ignore it. This is a one-in-a-billion chance. I really feel like this is what we’ve been looking for.’”

Further, Jackman added, "And I’d be sharing it with Ryan and Shawn, who are two of my best friends. The three of us together are like the Three Amigos. There was not a day where I wasn’t in tears laughing. I felt so rejuvenated playing the part. I mean, I’m 25 years in, man, and it feels better than ever.”

On Friday, the makers dropped another teaser of Deadpool and Wolverine. Undoubtedly, getting another glimpse of Wolverine and Deadpool aka Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds in action in their humorous way was a treat to watch. However, it left everyone thrilled with the entry of Wolverine's 'Old Foe' Sabretooth. The movie is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on July 26.
