A person suffered critical injuries allegedly after a bomb exploded in his house at Raghupati Nagar under Bada Bazaar Police limits in Berhampur on Thursday.

The injured person has been identified as Tukuna Bhuyan, a teacher by profession. 

As per the reports, Bhuyan along with his family is staying on the second floor of a two-storey building on the second lane of Raghupati Nagar. On Thursday he was alone in the house. At around 7 pm, a deafening sound was heard. His neighbours ran out of their houses to see what had happened.

Before they could understand anything, Bhuyan appeared on the balcony and cried for help. His neighbours came to his rescue and rushed him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. They saw gunpowder and other materials used in bomb-making strewn on the floor. 

On being informed, a team from the Bada Bazaar Police Station reached the spot and launched an investigation to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the blast.
