As many as four IPS officers have acquired illegal land in Bhubaneswar, alleged an RTI outfit named Odisha Soochana Adhikar Abhiyan (OSAA).

As per the OSAA’s allegation, an influential land mafia sold and purchased land measuring 7.5 acres from the government plot no-321 located by the side of the National Highway coming under Patrapada Mouza in Bhubaneswar at least 27 times. The buyers also include four senior IPS officers. The deals were allegedly carried out using fraudulent documents.

The OSAA also alleged that the land acquired by the said mafia included six acres of government land and a common road measuring 1.5 acres adjacent to the wall of ‘Smruti Bana’ under the Forest Department.

An RTI activist, Srikant Pakala, alleged that the present value of the illegally possessed land is over Rs 250 crore and the said land mafia has already earned Rs 25 crore as rent in the last 10 years.

“We demand that the Chief Minister should take steps in this regard,” said Pakala.
