Police on Monday arrested notorious robber Godhi for his alleged involvement in the loot incident that took place at Damana village under Chandrasekharpur Police limits of Bhubaneswar on January 1 night. 

Zone 6 ACP, Ramesh Chandra Bisoi informed about the arrest at a press meet.
 
According to police, Sibananda Barik, a resident of Damana village, was going to his shop at around 3 am on January 1 when Godhi approached him. Before Barik could understand anything, Godhi tried to snatch the cash bag from Barik. It contained Rs 6,000 cash. When opposed, Godhi attacked Barik and slit his throat with a sharp weapon before fleeing from the spot with the cash bag.

Hearing the commotion, local residents came to Barik’s rescue and rushed him to a private hospital. After treatment, he recently returned home. 

“The accused has been identified as Balabanta Bai alias Godhi. He is a habitual offender. Five to six cases are pending against him in different police stations. He would remain absconding most of the time and was never found in his house. On the incident night, he and his associate attacked the shopkeeper and looted money from him. Today we arrested and produced them in court,” said Zone 6 ACP, Ramesh Chandra Bisoi.
