In a post-poll violence incident in Ganjam district, one person was killed while three others sustained multiple injuries following a clash that occurred between two groups in Aska block on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Bulu Swain.

As per preliminary reports, the two groups were engaged in a battle over a petty dispute near Kendupadar college. It is alleged that the two groups were at loggerheads over several issues.

Following the fierce clash, all the injured were rushed to Aska hospital. Later, one person was shifted to Berhampur MKCG after his condition deteriorated.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ganjam district had witnessed several pre-panchayat polls violence. At least six persons were injured after they were attacked by a rival group when they were on their way to file nomination papers for their candidate for the Panchayat elections in Ramachandrapur Panchayat under Chikiti Block in January.

On January 18, violent clashes broke out between two groups from Mundamarai village under Dharakote block in the district leaving three persons injured.
