In an unusual but firm move against public littering, a civic body in Assam turned the tables on a shopkeeper who had allegedly dumped garbage on a public road. Instead of simply issuing a warning or fine, officials decided to drive home the message in a dramatic way.
According to reports, the shopkeeper had repeatedly disposed of trash outside his store and onto the road, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and traffic. Despite reminders, he continued the practice. In response, the civic body officials rolled in with a JCB excavator, collected the garbage that had been dumped on the road, and offloaded the entire heap right outside the shuttered store of the violator.
The video of the incident has gone viral on social media, with many applauding the civic body’s tough stance. Netizens hailed the action as an innovative way of holding violators accountable for public nuisance.
Some even suggested that such ‘instant justice’ should be replicated elsewhere to ensure cleanliness and civic discipline.
The incident serves as a reminder that while authorities continue to promote Swachh Bharat and clean city campaigns, public cooperation is essential. Dumping garbage irresponsibly may now invite embarrassing consequences.
