The bereaved family in distress
The family of Bashudev Behera, whose elder son was working in a private company in South Africa, has made an earnest request to BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda to help bring back the deceased’s body to India and seek justice.
According to the family members, Nishidev Behera, a resident of Dangamal village under Talchua Marine Police Station in Kendrapara district, had spoken to his family over the phone on September 8. However, the next day, on September 9, the family was shocked to receive the news of his sudden death.
The bereaved family members met with district administration officials to report the matter. They have also requested BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda to help them bring back the deceased’s body to India and seek justice.
"We met the administration to repatriate our deceased son’s body from South Africa. We also seek justice. We are sure that our son has been killed. He is not the kind of person who will commit suicide. The administration should conduct a proper investigation into it," said a relative of the deceased, Nishidev.
"We have taken the initiative for the repatriation of the body. We will bring the body through the Labour Officer. We will also provide some help from the Red Cross. As per the demand of the family, steps will also be taken for police investigation," said Kendrapara Collector Raghuram R Ayar.
At the same time, in a related incident, MP Baijayant Panda has written a letter to the Indian Ambassador in Oman, urging the repatriation of the body of Jafar Uddin, who was working in a private company in Oman.
Jafar, a resident of Kapilprasad village in Khordha district, reportedly died on September 7, as informed by the company authorities to the family. Following the family’s request, Panda has written a letter to the Indian Embassy in Oman.
