With the commencement of COVID19 vaccination drive drawing near, Odisha government is gearing up to ensure smooth administration of the vaccine. At the same time, a lot of questions are cropping up in the minds of the general public regarding the vaccine and the vaccination process. Head of the medicine department of Cuttack SCB Medical College & Hospital, Jayant Panda answered a few such queries regarding the much-awaited vaccination drive.

In a major development in the alleged custodial death case in Puri, the Odisha government on Monday told the High Court that the death of K Ramesh on November 19 last year was not due to custodial torture.

Sharing the details of vaccination, Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Prem Chandra Chaudhary said that the vaccination will be carried in 5 places.

The wait is finally over. The first consignment containing vials of Covishield vaccine dispatched from Pune’s Serum Institute of India will reach in Bhubaneswar in first phase today. According to the arrangements made by the Health and Family Welfare department, the vaccine vials will be stored in the cold storage at the state vaccine store.

It is welcome news for all as the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine is all set to arrive in Odisha today. According to the Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET) Odisha, the vaccines will reach Odisha and in the first phase over 3.28 Lakh people have been identified to get the vaccine.

A clash broke out between the locals and the police in Subarnapur district over cutting down of trees. This incident occurred near Barajhula village under Birmaharajpur Police limits of the district. The clash broke out after locals opposed cutting of roadside trees. The villagers had earlier protested felling of trees. However, the protests took a violent turn after the admin began cutting of roadside trees in the area. As per reports, section 144 has been imposed and a police team has been deployed in the area.

In a shocking incident, a team of police including the Sub-Divisional Police Officer was attacked in Malkangiri. The incident was reported from Marangpali village under Kalimela Police limits of Malkangiri. According to reports, the police team was attacked during a raid at a gambling den in Marangpali village.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued notice to the authorities of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in connection with the gas leak mishap that took four lives. The tribunal has asked the plant authorities to submit a report by February 11. The gas leak incident at the Coal Chemical Department of the plant had claimed lives of the four contractual employees of the plant.

In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) from Nagpur and Jeypore Sadar Police from Odisha have unearthed the source of the inter-state ganja smuggling racket. The joint squad arrested one Khagapati Pangi from Kalguda village under Jeypore Sadar Police limits in this connection.

The Orissa High Court has granted more time to the Special Investigation Team to file the final status report on investigation into the Nayagarh minor girl murder case. The next hearing of the case has been scheduled on March 25.
