Today is the auspicious Makar Sankranti. Devotees across Odisha were seen making a beeline at temples across the state to offer worship. At Puri Srimandir, there was a large turnout of devotees who visited the temple to have darshan of Lord Jagannath.
Two people have been sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for gang raping a minor girl in 2017 in Keonjhar Sadar Police limits area. The Additional District Judge (ADJ) of Keonjhar sentenced the accused to 20 years of imprisonment with Rs. 50,000 penalty. As per the verdict, if the convicts fail to pay the fine, additional penalty of Rs 5 lakh will be levied along with extension of the conviction period by one more year.
