Jamshedpur: A large number of people gathered in front of a chaat shop owned by Pappu Sardar, an ardent fan of Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit, as he distributed free chat, water-filled earthen pots and water bottles to mark the heroine's birthday at Sakchi here on Wednesday.

The birthday was being celebrated with a social cause as Pappu has been trying to make people aware about the need to save water on Dixit's birthday.

He said that the aim behind free distribution of water filled earthen pots and water bottles was to make people understand how precious is water in our daily life when parts of Steel city of Jamshedpur facing acute water crisis.

Pappu also released a calendar, which was dedicated to legendary film producer-diretor Yash Chopra, beginning the year with May 15, the birthday of Madhuri, and ending on May 14.
