Will such incidents of attacks on tourists affect Odisha’s image and its tourism sector...? Such questions have now cropped up following the incident even though a probe has started.

The deceased, identified as Kalia Nayak alias Sushant, was a resident of a slum under Capital Police limits in the Smart City.

The deceased has been identified as Saroj Panigrahi, a resident of Sarobarapada. The injured, Prema Sahu, hails from Kandhapalipada in the western Odisha town.

After the police arrested four members of the gang on Monday, it has been found out that this notorious gang openly targeted women. A CCTV video footage has surfaced that shows the members snatching a gold chain from a woman in Bhubaneswar during morning walk.

The accused have been identified as Mehfooz alias Vishal Khan and Manjeet Singh - both from Dera Bassi - Ankit and Goldy, both of Panchkula in Haryana. Six pistols and 26 cartridges were recovered from their possession.

Police identified the accused as Sashanka Baliarsingh. They also seized the weapon used in the crime from his possession.

Police believed the arrest of the accused would help them solve the mystery of the sensational triple murder. 

STF SP, Kishore Panigrahy said, “Yesterday, we got information that a person had brought brown sugar and stored it at his house at Unit-8 area in Bhubaneswar. Subsequently, a raid was conducted and the 1 Kg 107 grams of brown sugar was seized from him.”
