Padmashree awardee sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has once again made it to the world records for creating the biggest sand art of Lord Ram ahead of Pran Pratistha Utsav in Ayodhya.
Hanuman Vatika in Rourkela was attractively decorated for the temple consecration ceremony. A 12-ft high idol of Lord Ram will be worshipped tomorrow while a massive earthen lamp will be lit in front of the statue. About 6,000 litres of ghee will be used for the lamp to burn for a month.
“Cement, iron and steel was not used in its construction. The structural design of the 3-storey temple has been designed to be earthquake resilient. It can withstand strong tremors of magnitude 8 on the Richter scale for as long as 2,500 years,” the minister said.
The artist has depicted Lord Ram as a warrior. The cloth of the image was painted saffron while the body was coloured blue. The image of Lord Ram holds a bow in his left arm and an arrow in his right hand while a quiver has been slung across the shoulder.
