Man jumps to death from Idco Tower
Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped the capital city following the death of a middle-aged man who died after falling off the rooftop of the 14-storeyed Idco Tower building at Sahid Nagar during post-noon hours on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Gajendranath Das, a Class-A contractor of Baleipur village under Kujang block in Jagatsinghpur district.
Following information, police rushed to the spot and seized a suicide note from the deceased.
The note has stated that Das, who stays at Sarala Nagar in Laxmi Sagar area in the city, had come to the Idco office to meet the CMD regarding his payment against the construction of two Navodaya Schools at Konark and Rahama. But he could not meet the official as he was absent. Frustrated, Das jumped off the rooftop of the building and died instantly.
As per the statement of Das’s driver, his owner was in a state of depression for long time as he failed to get the payment from the Idco authorities against his construction work.
Police, in the meanwhile, have sent the body for post mortem and registered an unnatural death (UD) case and started investigation.
On the other hand, the Idco authorities could not be contacted despite several attempts by the media.
