Indian captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar attended a press conference to address the burning questions over BCCI's announcement of India's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The duo clarified various public concerns about the Team 11 and criteria followed for squad selection. One of the major chatters about the squad selection was the absence of Rinku Singh. Rinku has been on regulars since his debut last year. The star batter has played 15 short format matches for national team and has a strike rate of 176. Justifying the omission, chief selector Agarkar insisted that Rinku Singh has done nothing wrong. Agarkar and Sharma said that this omission was the toughest thing to decide and discuss. Agarkar said, Rinku has done nothing wrong, not even Shubman Gill, for that matter. It’s about combinations. Skipper Rohit Sharma called the situation unfortunate. He said, ‘It is not Rinku’s fault that he has missed out. It is more than the 15 that we felt...At the end of the day, you can only pick 15." 26-year-old Rinku Singh who is currently playing for Kolkata Knight Riders is part of the reserves in the T20 World Cup along with Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed.
