Big News! Odisha Cabinet Approves 10% Reservation For Ex-Agniveers In Uniform Services
The Odisha Cabinet headed by CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced a 10% quota in state uniform services for the short-term military men.
As per the decision, the government will provide 10 per cent reservation for ex-Agniveers in the posts of police, forest guards, fire personnel, and excise department.
After the Cabinet meeting, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja informed media that the proposed rule aims to provide ample opportunities to Ex-Agniveers to secure job in uniform services in all Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ posts in Direct Recruitment of the state. 'Such reservation shall be over and above the reservation applicable for ex-servicemen'.
Chief Secy Ahuja said “The Agniveers serve in the military for four years. They have all the necessary training. After the completion of four years, only a few eligible ones are given extension. But, now Odisha will provide 10% reservation for these Agniveers in uniform services.
However, the Agniveers must fulfill the required minimum qualifications prescribed for the posts in the relevant recruitment rules as on the date of award of Agniveer certificate. Furthermore, the Agniveers will be exempted from physical efficiency test and given three years’ age relaxation in the prescribed upper age limit.
