Due to continuous rainfall, several city roads in Odisha have been badly damaged, leaving potholes and broken surfaces. In addition, some drainage projects remain half-completed, while in certain areas, drains are lying uncovered, posing risks to the public.

To ensure safety and smooth movement during the festive season, all road repair and drainage works will be completed before Durga Puja, informed Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra on Friday.

According to the Minister, the repair drive will be carried out with the cooperation of all concerned departments.

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has already emphasized the importance of completing these works on time. Confirming this, Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra stated that all the damaged roads will be repaired at the earliest.

"Roads at various places have been damaged due to torrential rain. According to the directive by the Chief Minister, our Department will try to repair these roads before Durga Puja. PWD, RD, and Housing and Urban Development Departments are trying to complete the work positively," said Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra.
