On Saturday (April 3), a 24-year-old woman was stripped naked and brutally beaten up by in-laws in Kora village under Nikirai Police Limits of Kendrapada district allegedly because her family refused to pay dowry. A few villagers disrobed the woman, punched her and assaulted her with bamboos. A video of the horrifying incident that happened in full public view has gone viral on social media platforms. Inspector of the Nikirai Police Station reportedly said that the victim was tortured for not being able to fulfill dowry demands. The victim's uncle had filed a complaint against 8 persons including a woman, based on which police launched a probe. So far, three persons have been arrested in this connection.
