The winter session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly will begin on November 24. The parliamentary affairs department has issued an official notification in this regard. As per the provisional calendar of sittings, the winter session of the State Assembly will continue till December 31. The session will have 33 working days.

Impasse continued for the seventh day of the Odisha Legislative Assembly’s winter session on Wednesday as Opposition party legislators created ruckus in the House over the Mamita Meher murder case. 

Ahead of the Winter Session of the State legislature which is scheduled to start from December 1 and will be a stormy one, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress Tuesday had legislature party meetings to decide strategies to corner the ruling BJD government. 

It is not right, the Speaker repeatedly asserted but as the din continued, he adjourned the proceedings till 2 pm.

The suspended MPs include six from the Congress, two each from Trinamool Congress and Shiv Sena, and one each from CPI and CPM.

The restrictions will be imposed for the general public in view of safety. The rules will not be applicable to vehicles authorised to enter the official buildings including the State Assembly, the State Secretariat and other government offices located in the area.

As per convention, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) and Deputy LoP represented BJP in every all-party meeting convened by Speaker. Since LoP Pradipta Naik is unwell, the saffron party has decided to make changes in the party's team attending all the meetings convened by the Speaker.  

Earlier on November 23, Patro had announced that legislators will not be allowed to create ruckus or pandemonium during the Governor’s address and Question Hour in the upcoming Assembly session. He then had said that this is the unanimous decision at the 82nd AIPOC.

Sources said that opposition parties raised issues of Pegasus snooping row, price rise, unemployment, and extended jurisdiction of the Border Security Force (BSF) in some states.

Speaking to OTV, BJP MP Suresh Pujari on Sunday said that the party will raise several issues from the Pari murder case to the sensational murder of lady teacher Mamita Meher in the Parliament.
