The skyrocketing price of Mahaprasad (Abadha) in Puri Jagannath Temple has become a matter of concern for devotees. The rising prices of the Mahaprasad during the holy month of Kartik are burning holes in the pocket of devotees.
As the holy Kartik month began on Monday, Habisyalis (elderly women who observe fast during the month) across the State congregated in the pilgrim town of Puri to observe month-long Kartika Brata.

Patnaik has sculpted a 6ft tall sculpture of Lord Ganesha using 3,425 sand laddoos and some flowers. Surrounding the Vighnaharta are sculptures of two elephants worshipping the Lord.
