Demanding status of First War of Independence to Paika Bidroha, hundreds of Paikas on Friday took out a massive march in Bhubaneswar.
Protesting against the Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy’s statement on ‘Paika Bidroha’ or ‘Paika Rebellion’, terming it not the first war of Independence, hundreds of members of various Paika organizations took out a procession on Wednesday.
The ‘Paika Bidroha’, which took place 40 years before the 1857 Sepoy Uprising, involved peasants who fought the British after their economic structure was challenged.
