Due to severe heatwave conditions, the Odisha government has declared a three-day closure of all schools till April 20, 2024. This measure follows demands from guardians concerned about the safety of children commuting in the extreme heat.
As per the prediction by the Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar, the heatwave conditions may further intensify across the State with mercury reaching 45 degrees Celsius in some areas between April 18 and 20.
Special rituals will be performed at Srimandir in Puri on the occasion of holy Ram Navami.

Over 20 passengers of a bus sustained injuries after the bus they were travelling in met with an accident on NH-55 near Jarapada chhak in Odisha's Angul district on Tuesday.
The bus was carrying nearly 50 passengers and was on its way from Puri to Haldia. Following the mishap, Fire Services personnel and locals rescued the injured. The injured were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack
EOW SP, Dillip Tripathy said, “Fraudsters like Ved Praksh have been tricking people into investing in cryptocurrency. They called people to meetings at hotels and swindled crores of rupees from them in Puri, Bhubaneswar, Bargarh, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda.”
