Lord Jagannath and His siblings- Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra-on Monday returned to Srimandir after completing their nine-day sojourn.

The Holy Trinity returned to Puri Srimandir in their respective gigantic chariot in the return journey, popularly known as the ‘Bahuda Yatra’.

Since early morning devotees queued up before the three chariots to have a darshan of the deities during the Pahandi rituals at Gundicha temple.

The pahandi rituals began much earlier than their schedules. The Pahandi of Lord Sudarshan was conducted first. Later, the deities were escorted by the servitors to their majestic chariots parked in front of Gundicha temple.

Soon after the completion of the Pahandi rituals, ‘Chhera Panhara’ was conducted by Gajapati Dibyasingha Deba. Subsequently, the chariots were pulled towards Singhadwar by countless devotees. The deities were offered Odia delicacy ‘Poda Pitha’ near Mausima temple on their way. The chariots also halted near Sri Naara for ‘Laxmi-Narayan Bheta’ as per the age-old tradition.

Eventually, all three chariots reached Singhadwar amid a devotional ambience with the recitation of Gita Govinda.

Elaborate security arrangements were made by the administration for the smooth conduct of the Bahuda Yatra today.

As per the schedule, the Suna Besha of the deities will be conducted on Wednesday (July 17). The deities will give darshan to the devotees atop the chariots after being adorned with a huge quantity of gold ornaments. After ‘Adharapana’ rituals on Thursday ‘Niladri Bije’ rituals will be conducted on Friday.

As per previous announcement, a strict surveillance was kept on entry of non-servitors atop the chariots during Bahuda Yatra.  The administration initiated action against one such non-servitor today.

SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee himself brought down the non-servitor, who had climbed one of the chariots. The person had dressed himself as a servitor.
