BJP's State general secretary, Lekhashree Samantasinghar said, “BJD is using women as weapon and for vote bank politics. It is unfortunate the way BJD is accusing BJP of defaming women without facts and the party is indulging in cheap politics.”
The mass outreach campaign is being held across the country to mark the completion of nine years of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
As the tribals constitute nearly 22 percent in the state including from Sundagarh and Mayurbhanj, the BJD has laid emphasis on tribal-dominated areas during the reshuffle.
Three senior BJD leaders- Bikram Keshari Arukha, Sarada Nayak and Sudam Marndi took oath as cabinet ministers. While Bikram Keshari Arukha has been given the Finance portfolio, the School and Mass Education and Labour & Employees' State Insurance departments have gone to Sudam Marndi and Sarada Nayak, respectively.
With the latest inclusion, 23 districts are now included under the SDC. The new districts which were brought under the SDC are- Balangir, Ganjam, Boudh, Balasore, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Angul, Bargarh, Jajpur, Jharsuguda and Deogarh.
After the meeting on Tuesday, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik categorically stated that there was no discussion regarding any alliance. However, contrary to Patnaik's statement, the JDU, through a tweet claimed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has become the leader of opposition unity.
Addressing a presser, Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari on Monday alleged that ‘anti-national slogans’ were raised during the recent Sambalpur violence on April 12. This proves the presence of anti-national elements here, said Pujari.
Odisha BJP Vice President, Bhrugu Baxipatra termed the move as politically motivated and devised to get undue support from the DUDA during the next general elections.
Meanwhile, politics has intensified in Odisha over the change of slogan by the ruling party, days ahead of the Ram Navami as BJP will certainly up the ante with the ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogan.
The state unit of the BJP has now drawn up a strategy and action plan to take on the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha.

Briefing the itinerary of Shah's visit, Samantsinghar said, "The Home Minister will first visit the Akhandalamani shrine. Later, he will attend a public meeting at Dhamanagar in Bhadrak district."
Members of BJP Yuva Morcha on Tuesday launched Vidhan Sabha gherao abhiyan in Bhubaneswar as a mark of protest over Naba Das murder case and alleged deteriorating law and order situation in the State. A scuffle broke out between the agitating BJP workers and police when the saffron party workers attempted to march towards Odisha Assmebly. Police resorted to lathi charge to disperse protestors.
Hundreds of supporters of BJP Yuva Morcha flooded the Lower PMG Square and took out a mega rally in protest against the alleged lawlessness in the State.
The incident occurred when BJP members led by the Leader of Opposition, Mishra took out a huge rally from Ashapali School protesting deterioration in law and order situation in the State.
