BJP Leader Jayanarayan Mishra
Amidst the ongoing internal turmoil, senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra on Saturday fired sharp attacks at the BJD and also indirectly pointed fingers at VK Pandian, who once was considered to be the key strategist for the opposition.
Taking a veiled dig at Pandian, he said, “I don’t know the chemistry between Pandian and Naveen Patnaik, but clearly, wisdom has not prevailed yet.” He accused the former bureaucrat of manipulating state resources, saying, “Those who have looted Odisha’s mines and water should not be spared.”
According to Mishra, he has given courage to the BJD leaders to express their voices freely and everybody is taking about him (Pandian). Highlighting internal tensions within the BJD, he remarked, “I gave courage to BJD leaders to speak up. Everyone is talking in whispers. If more leaders come forward, the real faces will be exposed.”
Mishra described this move as a result of “long-suppressed anger” that has now taken the shape of rebellion.
Touching on the current state of Odisha’s politics, Mishra said, “Everybody saw what happened in the Rajya Sabha, and the same story is playing out in the Legislative Assembly too.” His words hinted at a growing disillusionment with BJD’s functioning in the state.
Mishra also made explosive remarks, asserting that the future of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) lies entirely at the discretion of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Addressing the media, Mishra claimed, “If the BJP merely blows a whistle, the BJD will collapse.”
In a clear message hinting at the growing vulnerability of the BJD, Mishra stated, “The dissolution of the BJD is purely a matter of BJP’s will. Many within the BJD are already in contact with us.”
He concluded by adding that"This is just the beginning. Much more will unfold in the coming days," suggesting possible internal rifts or mass exodus from the BJD.
No comments could be obtained from BJD leaders or VK Pandian over BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra's statements.
