A massive fire engulfed a scrap yard in Jajpur on Wednesday. The scrap yard near Dhaneswar chhak in Jajpur road has been gutted in the blaze. Fire tenders have been pressed on to douse the flames. A firefighter has reportedly sustained injuries while battling to contain the flames.

Two days have passed since the tragic train mishap at Korei station in Jajpur district. The question that still haunts everyone is what led to such a shocking incident where eight mid wagons of a goods train derailed and dashed into the station premises, killing three on the spot.

According to experts, had the goods train had the centre buffer coupling system, the tragedy could have been averted. 

As per ECoR sources, train operations resumed soon after completion of the restoration works of the affected railway section following the rescue and relief operations.

Three persons were killed after eight wagons of a goods train derailed and rammed into the passenger waiting hall at the Korei station on Bhadrak-Kapilas Road Railway section under Khordha Road Railway Division today.

Two persons identified as Kamar Siyajuddin Khan of Gujidadra village and Mohammed Karim of Kantabania village were apprehended for illegally transporting the cattle, the police said.
