Nursing girl student found hanging in hostel room in Jajpur, kin cry foul 

The body of a second-year nursing girl student of Xavier Nursing College in Jajpur district was found hanging in a hostel room on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Nibedita Sahoo, daughter of one Nanda Kishore Sahoo of Dhusuri area in Bhadrak district.

According to sources, the college authorities found Nibedia hanging inside her hostel room at around 1 pm and immediately rushed her to Jajpur Road community health centre.

However, she was declared brought dead by the doctors at the hospital, sources informed.

Meanwhile, family members of the deceased suspected foul play behind her death.

“We have lodged an FIR and are hopeful of getting justice. There must be some foul play which has forced her to take the extreme step,” alleged Manoj Kumar Das, a relative of the deceased.

“We all were busy taking classes. When we were informed about the incident, we immediately called her parents and the police. Later, we took her to hospital where she was declared dead,” said Jagabandhu Mallick, nursing in-charge.

On being informed about the incident, the Jajpur Road police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.

“An FIR has been registered in connection with the case and an investigation is on. The exact reason behind the death can be ascertained after getting the post-mortem report,” said Sanjay Patnaik, Sub Divisional Police Office (SDPO), Jajpur Road.
