Nearly a month after armed miscreants looted gold ornaments from a jewellery showroom in Jajpur, Police have managed to nab one robber involved in the armed dacoity.

The accused, Rupesh Kumar hails from Bihar and police got some links regarding the involvement of inter-state criminals.

“We had constituted multiple teams and we have learnt that eight accused were involved. We have managed to nab one accused from Vaishali area in Bihar. The accused Rupesh was involved and helped others to escape,” said Jajpur SP, Vinit Agarwal.

According to Agarwal, police have recovered three motorcycles used in the crime. “Primarily it has been ascertained that the robbers are from Bihar and no local involvement has come to the fore. Further investigation in this connection is underway,” Agarwal added.

It is pertinent to mention here that armed robbers raided a jewellery showroom in a busy market area of Vyasanagar town in the Jajpur district of Odisha last month. The miscreants looted around 10 to 11 kgs of gold ornaments from the jewellery showroom.
