A day after a major dacoity at a leading jewellery showroom in Jajpur district raised questions over security measures, Police on Tuesday released pictures of three suspected robbers involved in the heist.

Around seven robbers had allegedly looted ornaments worth over Rs 12 crore in a major dacoity at the concerned showroom located at Vyasanagar on Monday.

Releasing the pictures, police said that the informants will be duly rewarded for sharing details regarding the robbers whose pictures have been released.

Jajpur SP said, “Investigation is on and we are analyzing all the footage from CCTV cameras including on escape routes. The call details will also be examined. It is suspected that the criminals were from outside the state. But we are investigating the case taking into account all aspects.”

Posing as customers, the robbers looted the ornaments and other valuables from the showroom at gunpoint. The miscreants had also attacked some staff of the showroom and even snatched the weapon of the security guard. The incident occurred between 1:30 pm to 2 pm on Monday.

The miscreants also took away the mobile phones of the staff and threatened them at gunpoint. All the robbers fled with around 15 kg ornaments including gold and diamonds, sources said.
