Assam Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday reacting to the resignation of senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad from the grand old party said "ultimately, only Gandhis will remain in the party, and all others will leave".
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would win by a better margin if his Delhi counterpart and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal is projected as the Opposition's prime ministerial candidate to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the next general election.
Sarma gave the direction after a review meeting with his cabinet colleagues and senior district officers during the day.
Sarma had resigned from the Congress in 2015 and played a pivotal role in the BJP winning power for the first time in 2016.
Reflecting the polarised nature of politics in Assam, about 18 per cent of the respondents were not satisfied with the performance while 13 per cent of Tamil Nadu respondents were not satisfied with the performance of Stalin.

Himanta Biswa Sarma was on Monday sworn-in as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam, a day after he was named as the leader of the BJP legislative party in the state. Sarma was administered the oath of office by Governor Jagdish Mukhi at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.
