In wake of senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad's resignation from the party on Friday, a number of senior party leaders, including former legislators, of the party in Jammu and Kashmir also quit.

Veteran Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from all posts of Congress party including the primary membership on Friday (Aug 26). Azad, who joined the Congress in the mid 1970s, has held many important positions both in the party and the government.

Though there has been no official reaction from Azad except thank you messages to tweets, he did tweet when news circulated that he has changed his Twitter bio, "Some mischievous propaganda being circulated by some people to create confusion. Nothing has been removed or added to my twitter profile. The profile is as it was earlier."
