In a tragic mishap, two elephants were killed after being hit by a goods train near Tangi Forest Division in Khordha district on Saturday (Dec 25). According to sources, a herd of eight elephants was crossing the railway tracks near the Bhusandapur level crossing last night when a speeding train approached them.
If a wild animal is killed by poachers, the matter should first be reported to the higher authorities to facilitate further probe.
