Although children were less affected with Covid-19, among those infected majority are likely to develop long Covid similar to adults. However, their condition often remains undiagnosed, the media reported.

After recovery, several children are developing multi-system inflammatory syndrome or MI Syndrome, which is being suspected to be a post Covid complication. This information was shared by Odisha Public Health Director, Niranjan Mishra on Thursday (Sept 9).

Experts have predicted that as many as 23 out of 100 affected children are likely to be hospitalized during the peak of the possible third wave of Covid-19.

Amidst rising instances of children testing positive for Covid-19, a ray of hope has emerged as the vaccine 'ZyCoV-D' by Zydus Cadilla got approval to be administered to children above 12 years of age. However, the use of the vaccine and its associated guidelines are yet to be released by the Central government, informed Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Chief, CBK Mohanty on Saturday (Aug 21).

Special beds have been arranged for children in preparation for the possible third wave of Covid-19 in the state. This information was shared by the Odisha Health Services Director, Bijay Mohapatra on Thursday (Aug 19).

The rising cases of Covid-19 among children have added fuel to the fear of more children getting infected in the next wave.

Children developing symptoms will be immediately given treatment and then tested for Covid-19.
