Section 144 has been clamped at Dhabaleswar shrine in Cuttack for carrying out the repair work of the hanging bridge.The prohibitory was ordered by the local administration a day after the horrific incident of the collapse of a cable suspension bridge in Morbi, Gujarat in which 140 people were killed.

"We have arrested nine persons so far, the investigation is going on," Rajkot Range IG Ashok Yadav told PTI.

Earlier today, the local administration at Athagarh reduced the capacity of the suspension bridge to the Dhabaleswar shrine. Only 200 devotees were allowed to travel through the bridge at a time and later shut the bridge for one day.

Six persons travelling in two cars got trapped after portion of a bridge collapsed at T. Rampur in Kalahandi district today. A team of firefighters along with local police immediately reached the spot for rescue operation.

According to sources, the vehicles were crossing through the bridge when the incident took place.

A bridge over Jonk River collapsed following heavy downpour in Nuapada district. As a result, vehicular communication between Odisha and Chhattisgarh was disrupted. Watch this video.

Two persons were killed while one person sustained injury in the mishap which took place during the evening rush hour on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when the roof of the bridge was being laid out. 

An under-construction bridge on the National Highway-16 near Brajrajnagar in Panikoili collapsed on Monday. However, no loss of life was reported in the mishap.
