6 feared trapped as bridge collapses in Odisha’s Bhawanipatna

In a bone-chilling incident, at least six persons travelling in two cars were feared trapped on Sunday after a portion of a bridge collapsed at T. Rampur under Bhawanipatna police limits in Kalahandi district on Sunday afternoon.

According to sources, the vehicles were crossing through the bridge when the incident took place.

On being informed, a team of firefighters with the local police rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

After hours of efforts, all the trapped ones were rescued and admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Bhawanipatna. Among the injured was a minor child.

Miraculously, there was no casualty and the passengers escaped with minor injuries.

The incident has spread outrage in the area as hundreds of vehicles pass through the bridge on a daily basis.
