After the tall leader’s statue in shirt and trousers triggered a massive outrage across the State, now the usual ‘dhoti-kurta’ makeover to the sculpture installed at Gopabandhu Park in Angul district on the occasion of Utkal Dibasa has again added fuel to the fire.

Though the exact cause behind the death of the elephant is unknown, senior forest department officials have reached the spot to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death of the animal.

According to police, Nayak on Saturday night was asleep after dinner when three miscreants strayed into his house and injected him with poison and fled.

Apart from inaugurating the much-awaited Angul bus stand, he has also inaugurated a hospital at Palhara and a heritage corridor at Talcher Municipality.

The Talcher medical college will not only help people of Angul and adjacent districts get quality health care facilities, but also strengthen the efforts of the State government to improve the capacity of the medical education institutions in the State.

These visuals show a wild bear struggling inside a well at Jhintipal village under Chhendipada forests in Angul. Reports said that the bear accidentally fell into the well after getting attracted by sugarcanes in the area. On being informed, forest personnel reached the spot and lowered a ladder into the well for its rescue.
