Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, who was in Angul district as part of the ongoing Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, had his dinner at a Dalit’s house on Thursday. 

The Union Minister visited and had dinner at the house of Dukhabandhu Nayak, a Dalit resident of Ward no-11 in Angul town. Earlier in the day, the Minister took part in several programmes. 

Upon his arrival, Rai was accorded a warm welcome at Mahidharpur by the Bharatiya Janata Party workers. Later, he proceeded to Bajirout Chhatrabas and met noted social activist and daughter of freedom fighter and former Chief Minister Nabakrushna Choudhury, Krishna Mohanty.  

After paying his tributes to the former Chief Minister Nabakrushna Choudhury and Malati Devi, the minister visited Bapinuma Kutir. He rounded up his visit with a meeting with the inmates of Bajirout Chhatrabas. 

Thereafter, he attended a meeting with the party’s senior leaders and workers at the district party office.  Several topics were discussed. For dinner, the minister visited the house of Dukhabandhu, a Dalit and dined with family members. 

In his reaction, the minister was all praise for Krishna Mohanty. 

“The way the daughter of noted freedom fighter is taking care of and educating ST children is highly commendable and exemplary,” observed Rai.
