Bhubaneswar: After the recent Australian tour, Indian Hockey team members arrived to a rousing reception in Bhubaneswar today. The team will kick start its preparations for the much-awaited FIH Men’s Series Final to be held at Kalinga Stadium here from June 6 to June 15.

The event is crucial, as it is the gateway to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

“The series is really important for us. We always enjoy playing with the support we get here in Bhubaneswar. As all other teams will be giving their 100%, we are focusing on winning the games. So, we have to give our best and win it without underestimating any team,” said Indian men's hockey team captain Manpreet Singh after landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport today.

Apart from Team India, seven other teams including Asian Games gold medalist Japan, Mexico, USA, Poland, South Africa, Russia, Uzbekistan will be participating in the 10-day event. All the teams are likely to reach the capital city between May 29 and June 3.

Twin City Police Commissioner, Satyajit Mohanty informed that adequate arrangements will be made for the security of players as well as other officials.

“Like the Hockey Men's World Cup, steps will be taken to ensure that FIH Men’s Series Final 2019 is also conducted smoothly. The process for security deployment and other necessary arrangements have already started,” informed Mohanty.
