Berhampur: Residents of Dengadi village under Patapur Police limits of Ganjam district thrashed some policemen from Telangana presuming them to be child lifters. As many as five policemen were injured in the process.

As per reports, a team of 10 Policemen from Telangana dressed in civil clothes came to Dengadi village to nab an accused involved in gold theft from a Jewellery shop in Hyderabad where he was working. When the policemen reached the village, a few residents attacked them suspecting them to be child lifters. Moreover, the agitating locals also allegedly ransacked the vehicle of the policemen.

Later, Patapur Police rescued the policemen from the villagers and admitted the injured officials to Adapada hospital.

Meanwhile, the accused, whom the policemen had come to apprehend, has been detained at Patapur Police Station for further interrogation.
