Bhubaneswar: Panic spread in Thuriasanda village as three members of a family were killed and one injured by a wild elephant in Dhenkanal.

The three deceased have been identified as Madan Hembrum, his wife Sumi Hembrum and their three-year-old daughter Kamini Hembrum.

The nine months old son of Madan Hembrum was injured in this attack, he has been taken to a nearby hospital.

The incident took place on Monday night, when the elephant came into the village, destroyed their house and killed them by trampling.

Bhuban ranger has announced Rs 2 lakh for a family of the deceased.

The villagers blocked road to protest against the Forest Department’s incompetence to take any action.

Notably, the elephant has allegedly killed 30 people over the span of three years in the area.
