Kendrapara: It seems that BJD’s Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty has got a penchant for being in news, but for all the wrong reasons. This time the parliamentarian has drawn severe criticism from various quarters for allegedly misbehaving with an OTV journalist who approached him for his comments after a project announcement event for Baladevjew Temple at Kendrapara Collectorate on Tuesday.

The video of the incident captured in the camera of OTV journalist Manoj Swain showed Anubhav misbehaving with him in full public glare. Not only that the parliamentarian shoved the OTV boom and dragged the journalist in front of the camera before mockingly clapping and commenting 'you show news by distorting it'. Some other supporters of the actor-turned politician were also seen applauding his disgraceful manner.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik sanctioned Rs 8.5 crore for the development of Kendrapara Baladevjew Temple and the grand road in front of the temple through a video conference at the district collectorate. Along with MP Anubhav, local MLA Shashi Bhusan Behera, Rajnagar MLA Dhruba Sahu and Mahakalpara MLA Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, district administration officials were also present during the event.

But after the conclusion of the conference, when the OTV journalist asked the MP for a byte over the development, he said, "What will I say to them those who do not have any dignity. While I comment one thing you distort the news and show it the other way for self-interests."

While all other dignitaries present at the spot made their statements in peaceful manner, the parliamentarian's such irrational manner towards a journalist has been criticized by many.

Swain who was misbehaved by the MP, clarified, "When I defended his allegations, he dragged me to in front of the camera and poked fun at me before urging his supporters to clap. While the State government is boasting about its push for 5T and all big concepts of good behaviour and mannerisms, it is very unfortunate for a MP of the ruling party to behave in such a way."

It is not for the first time that MP Anubhav Mohanty has misbehaved with a journalist. Earlier, Anubhav and his brother were accused of misbehaving with a lady journalist.

Apart from this, the two-time Parliamentarian had recently entered into a spat with his neighbour Manjit Das, who happens to be a Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) leader, over vehicle parking.

Slamming the BJD MP's misbehaviour, President of Odisha Union Of Journalists, Prasanna Mohanty said, "It is an extremely condemnable act by a people's representative. It is an act of disrespect towards journalists and the parliamentarian should apologise or else there will be protests."
