Miscreants Vandalise Trucks, Loot Cash in Odisha
Cuttack: Tension prevailed at Kanheipur under Tangi Police limits after 11 trucks were allegedly vandalised by unidentified miscreants on Saturday night. The truck owners alleged that the trucks were parked in front of Nimeisapur petrol pump and the miscreants also looted cash from the vehicles.
The miscreants shattered windshields and looted cash from drivers by threatening them with sharp weapons, alleged Bhagyadhar Nayak, a truck owner.
“My driver called me last night and informed about the loot. I rushed to the spot and found that several other trucks were also ransacked,” Nayak added.
While Tangi Police have launched a probe after a formal complaint was lodged by truck owners. It is suspected that the incident could be the fallout of the ongoing dispute between truck owners and local residents over illegal parking of vehicles in the area.
Satyabrata Sahoo, a local resident said, “We had raised the issue of illegal parking in the last ‘Mo Sarkar’ meeting. Inaction of the local administration triggered public resentment and they were forced to take law into their own hands.”
