Puri: The Puri district police today rescued a minor girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a minor boy under the Town police limits last year. Interestingly, the girl was rescued from her matriculation examination centre after she finished her final exams today.

As per reports, based on a complaint filed by family members of the minor girl, police had been searching for her since last one year. However, today the cops received information that the minor girl has been appearing for the Matriculation examination and waited for her near the exam centre.

After her exam was over, police took the girl into custody and said that she would be produced in a court.

“The family members had lodged a missing case of the girl. When we came to know that she has come to appear for the exam, a police team waited outside her exam centre. We took her into the police station and she will be produced in the court soon,” stated Sudhakar Sahu, City DSP, Puri.

On public concerns whether police misbehaved with the minor girl, the DSP said, “Why will the police team beat the minor girl? While dealing with minor girls, cops usually are not in their uniform.”
