Narayanpatna: Normal life was badly affected in Narayanpatna and Bandhugaon areas which remained cut off from the outside world for the last six days due to the bandh call given by Maoists followed by protest week. Today is the second day of the protest week.

Maoists had given a bandh call on April 20 and April 21 demanding halt of Operation Green Hunt and release of political prisoners. The rebels have also dug up roads between Laxmipur and Bandhugaon and created road blockades by felling trees.

Vehicular movement on the road has come to a grinding halt creating scarcity of essential commodities. The residents and students of various schools and colleges have to travel 20 km by foot from Bandhugaon. After two-day bandh, Maoist observation of the protest week has created fear among the people.
